Fort Edmonton Park and John Walter Museum

  • John Walter Museum and Fort Edmonton Park offer many of the same party themes. 

Fees: 

  • John Walter Museum $145 /party
  • Fort Edmonton Park $145 /party - January 1 - May 22 and August 30 – December 31
  • Fort Edmonton Park $170 /party - May 23 - August 29 and Sundays in September

 For a maximum of 15 people (including parents and siblings)

Fort Edmonton Park in the Summer

  • When Fort Edmonton Park is open to the public May 23—August 29 and Sundays in September, fees include admission for your guests to enjoy the public activities available.
  • To maintain the historical experience for all visitors in the Park, you will not be permitted to drive into the Park. Staff will assist with loading and moving gifts and cake in a hand-pulled wagon.
  • Additional guests above the maximum number of 15, adults or children, will be required to pay applicable admission costs and will not be able to participate in the program activities. 
  • A minimum of two adults must stay with the children during structured activities.
  • Program length: 2 hours
  • Birthday child will receive a t-shirt.

Options:

  • $25/hour for rental of space for cake and gift opening. Please note that cake, drinks, and dishes are not supplied.
  • $40 for party bags (up to 14)

    Includes 2 pieces of candy/gum, 2 toys (1 of which may be stickers), one free child admission pass to Fort Edmonton Park, Muttart Conservatory, John Janzen Nature Centre, Valley Zoo, and Kinsmen Sports Centre.

  • Ask us about catering options for your party snacks or lunch at Fort Edmonton Park.

 

Pre-school Pioneer Party           (Ages 4 -5 )

Children will love to try on olden-day costumes and play party games of yesterday. They’ll bake some cookies, make a simple toy, and try their hand at chores such as washing clothes.

Pioneer Birthday Party     (Ages 6 – 12)

Your child’s birthday party will go down in history with a party that takes you back over 100 years! Celebrate with homemade baking, pioneer activities and old-fashioned games.

Old-Fashioned Baking Party (Ages 8 – 13)

Bake and cook on a wood burning stove to make a smorgasbord of birthday delights. Choose any three of the following old fashioned favorites:

Chocolate Truffles Scones & butter
Cupcakes Muffins
Fudge Cinnamon Buns
Brownies Cookies
Butterscotch Squares

Christmas Birthday Party (Ages 5 – 12)

Enjoy a unique and festive party for your child’s birthday during the holidays. Bake some Christmas goodies and play pioneer games. Discover how Christmas gifts were different over 100 years ago, and make your own traditional gift as a take home Christmas craft.

Available: Nov. 15 – Dec. 31

Fur Trader Party        (Ages 6 – 12)

Celebrate your party fur trader style! Feel like voyageur as you explore the Fort and discover how people lived in 1846. Reconstruct a model of a tipi, or build and race a travois. Play some traditional Aboriginal games, or try beading. Draw the celebration to a close by roasting bannock over the fire. 

Snowshoeing can be a part of this program for December – February (weather and snow dependent).

Available: Jan. 1 – May 22 and Aug. 30 – Dec. 31, only at Fort Edmonton Park.


Summer Party in the Park         (Ages 6–12)

This party is perfect for a summer day. Kids will enjoy making their own treat to eat and creating their own ‘old-time’ craft. When it’s all done, you and your guests can enjoy the entire Park on your own.

Choose from one of the following three themes to customize your party:

  • Fascinating Fur Trade
  • Pioneer Pleasures
  • Time Travel Treasure Hunt

Available: May 23 – Aug. 29 and Sundays in September, during public hours at Fort Edmonton Park.
