Distance Learning

Bring Fort Edmonton Park into your classroom, wherever your classroom is!

Using this resource, learners will experience the seasons through an Indigenous worldview.

Students will learn about how Indigenous peoples of the past and present live their lives as the seasons change through text, video, activities, and an online discussion with an Indigenous education interpreter. Students will ask questions and build connections between their own seasonal traditions and the practices of Indigenous peoples.

What's Included:
You will go through each of the four seasons—Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter— and highlight important lessons associated with each change in the yearly cycle. Quotes from Indigenous Elders and Knowledge Keepers in the Indigenous Peoples Experience are included, alongside other guiding questions to consider.

Example question: What do the colours on the Métis sash represent?

Finally, the program allows for 30 minutes of a booked virtual discussion with an Indigenous education interpreter. This time will allow learners to ask questions to our interpreters and expand upon the teachings shared during the lesson.
