What is DARK?
DARK is Fort Edmonton Park’s Halloween scare event for older teens and adults. It features several haunts, roving entertainment, and food and beverage service.
What is a haunt?
A haunt is an immersive scare experience. It differs from a haunted house in that it can take place indoors or outdoors and often combines the two.
Where is the event held?
The event takes place at Fort Edmonton Park (7000 143 St.) in Edmonton’s River Valley.
How much are the tickets?
General Admission tickets - $50.00 (plus fees & tax).
General Admission with Fast Pass - $80.00 (plus fees & tax)
*Fast pass allows you quicker access into haunts.
Will Dead Centre Of Town be returning this year?
Dead Centre of Town will not be returning.
What time do I have to be there?
Gates to the Front Entry Plaza and Gift Shop open at 6:00 pm.
Access to the event site, bars, and food trucks begins at 6:30 pm.
Haunts open at 7:00 pm.
Entrance to each of the haunts will be first come, first served. It can take up to 3 hours to get the full festival experience. The event closes at 11:00 pm.
What if it rains, snows, or is cold?
The event continues rain, shine, or cold. Parts of the event will be indoors, and spaces will be available to warm up; please dress for the weather. Remember, it can be a few degrees cooler in the river valley.
Is on-site parking available?
Parking in the main lot is limited. Please carpool, use a taxi, Uber, or get dropped off.
Is there a shuttle service available?
No. The DARK shuttle service will not be running Oct 31-Nov 2. Please park in the main Fort Edmonton Park lot.
How can I purchase a DARK ticket?
The easiest way to purchase your ticket is online. Tickets will sell out so it is best to purchase in advance.
What’s your refund policy?
This event is non-refundable.
Can I purchase my ticket at the door?
Tickets are available at the door depending on availability. We recommend purchasing tickets in advance here.
Is the Hotel Selkirk open?
Yes! The Hotel Selkirk is available for bookings every Saturday and Sunday during DARK and Hallowen Thursday. VIP Room Packages start at $400 based on double occupancy. Included in your room DARK toques, two admissions to DARK including Fast Passes, two bottles of water, and a continental breakfast! Please be aware, this is a boutique hotel, there are no TVs, please bring your own devices if you want additional entertainment.

Will there be food and beverages available?
Yes, there will be food and beverages available in multiple locations. DARK is a licensed event, so please bring your ID if you wish to purchase alcoholic beverages.
When are food trucks open until?
Food trucks continue to operate until the end of the event at 11 pm.
Can I take pictures or videos inside the haunts?
Our team works extra hard to create a great experience for everyone, and to keep spoilers to a minimum. Please refrain from taking photos and videos while inside the haunts. There are plenty of photo opportunities around the site!
Can I wear a costume?
Costumes, costume masks, graphic makeup, and face paint are NOT permitted.
Is the event wheelchair accessible?
Two of the four haunts (3 AM and Cursery Rhymes) are wheelchair accessible.
Will there be long line-ups?
We do our best to minimize line-ups; please expect some line-ups and be prepared for the weather. We recommend grabbing a bite to eat or a drink to enjoy while waiting in line.
Is this event suitable for children?
While the event is for people 14 years and older, entrance is at the parent or guardian’s discretion. There is no discounted rate for children.
Is there a family-friendly version?
This event is not suitable for young children. There are many child-friendly events in and around Edmonton, including Boo! At the Zoo.
I came to DARK before. Are the haunts the same?
There are two brand new haunts and a continuation of the story on two previous haunts.
How long is each haunt?
Haunt times vary depending on the haunt and how quickly people move through. Each haunt averages around 8-12 minutes.
Once I've left the event, can I re-enter?
No, re-entry is not permitted.
DARK looks like fun, how can I get involved?
There are various ways to get involved. Scare Actor auditions typically take place in June and volunteer recruitment takes place in the late summer and early fall. Please visit our volunteer sign-up page.
